30-hour online course. Required for California teens ages 15½ to 17½. Complete from home at your own pace.

Pass the DMV knowledge test and vision exam. Your teen must be at least 15½ to apply for an instruction permit.

The permit must be held for at least 6 months and 1 day before your teen can take the road test.

50 hours of supervised driving with a licensed adult age 25+, including 10 hours at night.
